In the most crowded market area of Bangalore lays the remnants of Tipu's Fort - a silent testament of Tipu's battle against British regime.During 1781-179 the fort was built and was the Tipu Sultan’s summer residence of. It is a two-storied wooden structure, engraved out of Teakwood with renovated pillars, hollow arches and balconies. Today The Tippu Sultan fort houses a museum embellished with ancient artifact of Hyder-Tipu government.
The Tippu Sultan Fort is also known as the "Abode of Peace". The Tippu Sultan Fort is noted for its tantalizing carved arches on the gate walls showcasing outstanding style of Islamic architecture. Its incomparable floral patterns on the walls and ceilings are worth noting. In the quadrant there is a Ganesha Temple that popularly charecterizes and illustrates Tipu Sultan's religious tolerance. Until 1867 After Tipu's death the palace was governed as a Secretariat by the British.
In June 2005 the tippu sultan palace was inaugurated to by Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wodeyar for the public to meet Rs 20 lakh as annual upkeep costs of the palace. The main captivation of the tippu sultan fort is the art gallery of a nearly thousand historical photos, combining those of viceroys, maharajas and other popular personalities besides the delicate carvings and paintings.
